What are Hemroids?
Hemroids are simply this: Swelling of the veins of the anal area. They are akin to varicose veins in the legs and, in fact, many hemroid treatment options are similar to the treatments available for varicose veins.
When the hemroidal veins are swollen they are prone to irritation and inflammation resulting in the familiar hemroid symptoms of pain, itching, bleeding and a feeling of fullness in the anal area.
How Did I Get Hemroids?
First of all, you are not alone. The prevalence of hemroid symptoms among the general population is practically unmatched by any other condition.

Causes of Hemroids:
Hemroids are caused by a number of factors often working together to cause your hemroid symptoms. And, hemroids can be symptomatic of a problem with your overall digestive health.
Veins tend to swell when pressure is placed upon them for an extended period of time. With hemroids this pressure comes from such events as:
* Pregnancy
* History of Straining when having a bowel movement
* Persistent Constipation or Diarrhea
* Prolonged Sitting (think: truck driver)
* Being Overweight
* Certain Medical Conditions such as long-standing heart- or liver disease
* Rarely Tumors of the anus or rectum
